Cirillo to Milwaukee? Apparently not.

It sounds like Jeff Cirillo really wanted to come back to Milwaukee for a third term of service next year. He personally placed a call to Doug Melvin to see if the Brewers were interested in bringing him back next term. I'm assuming that Cirillo would have even taken a pay-cut to be in Milwaukee, but Melvin said that he doesn't see a good fit for Cirillo in Milwaukee.

The fact that Melvin is not interested in a solid, veteran backup like Cirillo speaks volumes about what he thinks of Joe Dillon. It looks like Dillon and perhaps Vinny Rottino will be anchoring the backup corner infield spot this season. Dillon played very, very well last year, so I'm not surprised Melvin is sticking with him. He has a very short, compact swing that gets the the hitting zone consistently. He's the contact hitter that Melvin is searching for to fill the LF position. Dillon cannot quite start in Milwaukee, but he is more than a serviceable backup.

I don't understand this blog very much. Do you look at what Tom Haudricourt writes on his blog and then just rephrase it yourself? Your stories have a direct correlation to his, but written a couple hours later.

It seems to me that I would rather just read what he writes because he seems to have a much deeper network.

First off, I would like to thanks for stopping by to BrewersNation. I really do appreciate it.

Secondly, Tom Haudricourt is the only sports writer (besides those at ESPN) that is reporting on Brewers off-season news. He has direct access to Doug Melvin, so why wouldn't he get the news first? He's a paid journalist at the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He's got a much bigger network than anyone else in the game. This site is only 2 months old, so the network is still building thanks to people like you who visit...so again I thank you.

Finally, Tom's blog does not talk about the minor leagues much, nor does he touch other NL Central teams. This blog does when the information is pertinent. Thanks again for reading, and hopefully you'll be back again.

I like that you sum up the articles. What's the point of having a blog if you just post links all the time? Also, it's like we get the full extent of the article PLUS comments from a fan who seems educated in this area. Thanks, man!!
